My husband and I are graduate students in mathematics. I have a huge passion for the subject. I am especially a fan of “pure mathematics”. This is the field where many may ask “what are you ever going to use that for?”. I view it as an art. I am interested in the areas of mathematics that may not have immediate applications but is just beautiful. I had a friend who gave a presentation at a conference and was asked how his research could be “applied to the real world”. His response was something to the affect of “do you question Picasso how he can apply is art? No, you love it for it’s beauty and only that.” One of the most beautiful equations of mathematics is Euler’s Identity, . I will still never forget the day I saw my Calculus II professor derive it on the board. Some claim it is proof that God exists.
My goal is to become a university professor. I absolutely LOVE teaching others math and look forward to the day that I do this every day. I believe that a teacher can make or break a students perspective on math. I will strive to be the professor who gives her students a positive attitude on the subject and hopefully they grow to have a liking for it.
Feel free to use this page to ask me questions about mathematics. Post your question as a comment and I will get back to you as soon as I can. I love helping people with math and would be more than happy to help YOU
